Milestone Equine Farm and Sanctuary Rules and Regulations For Placing a Horse From our Facility

These are the terms you will be agreeing to before you can purchase one of our horses.

1. Any OTTB adopted cannot at any time be returned to racing ever!
2. This horse may need additional training for discipline or riding.
3. It is agreed that this horse will never be sent to a slaughter facility. If the horse has to be euthanized, it must be done in a humane way by lethal injection administered by a licensed veterinarian. MEFS must be notified before, if possible, or immediately after the process. Proof of death must be provided, such as a veterinarian’s invoice or written statement from a veterinarian.
4. During the first initial year the new owners must update us on the horse(s) well being and send pictures.
5. The horse can be returned to us at anytime after placement. New owners have up to one week to return the horse for a full refund. After that any horse that is returned to our care will be at the owners expense and the placement fee will be considered a donation to our program.
6. MEFS would like to retain the ability to inspect the horse for up to the first year of placement. Should we find the equine in poor condition or or in poor living conditions MEFS reserves the right to retrieve the said equine at the owners expense.

Please make note of the following:
• Changes in housing and routine may produce changes in the behavior of the horse; therefore additional training for both riding and ground manners may be necessary. Training or consultations by an equine professional is recommended to ease transition stress for both the new owner and horse.
• MEFS makes no guarantees in writing or verbally on the soundness of any animal available for adoption. MEFS will gladly honor the purchasers request for a pre-purchase veterinary consultation, to be paid for by the purchaser. • Horses are unpredictable animals. Consequently, MEFS is not responsible for any damages to persons or property once the horse is replaced.

Please Email Us if you are Interested in any available horses and we will email you the form if you cannot dowload it online.
